Policía investiga las causas de la muerte de Whitney Houston

La cantante y actriz estadounidense Whitney Houston, muerta el sábado en un hotel de Beverly Hills a la edad de 48 años, fue encontrada inanimada en la bañera de su habitación, informó la prensa el domingo.

Los socorristas "hallaron el cuerpo sin vida de (Whitney) Houston en la bañera de su habitación", afirma la cadena ABC, sin precisar si en el momento de su muerte la cantante estaba tomando un baño.

La policía de Beverly Hills no respondió a los llamados de la AFP.

La diva, que llegó a vender 170 millones de discos y fue la heroína de la película "Bodyguard" (El guardaespaldas), en 1992, fue encontrada precisamente por su guardadespaldas, según Fox News.

Su muerte fue determinada a las 15H55 (23H55 GMT) del sábado, 12 minutos después del llamado de sus allegados a los servicios de socorro.

Una autopsia será practicada al cuerpo de la artista el domingo o el lunes, afirma la cadena ABC.

La cantante residía desde hacía varios días en una habitación del cuarto piso del Beverly Hilton Hotel, donde el sábado en la noche debía participar en una velada al margen de la ceremonia de los Grammy Awards, los "Oscar" de la música en Estados Unidos, que tienen lugar este domingo.
